Chimneys

New chimney chases, crowns, and caps, plus full rebuilds from the roofline up on stone and brick that is past saving.

Chimneys masonry work by Black Pine Masonry

Nearly every chimney problem in North Idaho starts with water getting into masonry and then freezing. Once that damage sets in, patching buys very little time. We build new chimneys, rebuild failed ones, and take on select chimney repairs and remodeling when the scope fits our crew and schedule.

Signs a chimney is past saving

Crumbling or missing mortar joints, a cracked crown, white efflorescence staining, spalling brick faces that flake off in sheets, or water stains on the ceiling near the chimney. Once water has been cycling through the masonry for a few winters, a rebuild is the honest answer rather than a patch that fails again.

Rebuilds done right

We take the chimney down to sound masonry and rebuild with a new crown, correct flashing coordination with your roofer, and a stainless cap. Brick and stone are matched to the house so the rebuilt section does not read as a repair.

New construction chases

On new builds we frame our work around the fireplace and the roof line, build the chase to draft properly, and finish it in veneer or brick that matches the rest of the exterior.
