Veneer is where sloppy masonry shows fastest — in the corners, the joint width, and the way the coursing dies into a window. We lay out the wall before we set stone so the pattern runs consistently from one elevation to the next.
The wall behind the stone matters
Most veneer failures are moisture failures. We install the weather-resistive barrier, lath, and scratch coat correctly, keep weeps and flashing clear at the base and at every horizontal transition, and give the drainage plane somewhere to go. Done right, the stone lasts as long as the house.
Natural versus manufactured
Natural full-bed stone gives real depth and shadow lines and holds its color permanently. Manufactured veneer is lighter, faster, and costs less, and modern product is convincing when the corners and blend are handled well. We will walk you through both against your budget and your elevation before ordering.
Joint style sets the character
Tight-fit dry stack, raked joints, overgrout, or a traditional struck joint all change the look of the same stone completely. We build a small sample area on the job so you can see the joint style on your wall, in your light, before we commit the whole elevation.
